You can wrap the negative wire around a bolt on the frame of your vehicle. Frank Thanks Frank, I guess a little more info on my part would have been helpful. I chose to use a sincere piece of line because I was able do so while the body was off. Turn the pump on and measure the pressure. If you would like to put the gauge into the dash, cut a hole in the dash the same size as your air glad gauge using a rotary tool. A fuel pressure regulator is controlled by a diaphragm and spring combination in conjunction with intake manifold vacuum. If the 12-volt power supply is a fuse, insert the exposed end of the wire into the fuse.

Hey Guys- I am converting the mechanical fuel pump to an electric on my 1976 Jeep CJ5 with the 258 engine. I have a question on the correct way to hook up my fuel pressure gauge to test that I have the correct fuel pressure at the carb. My service manual says I should have about 5 psi at the carb. Do I remove the hose after the fuel filter, attach it to one end of the T.. The top part of the fitting goes to the gauge. The instructions should be in the package or on their website. From the website it looks like you connect the gauge to the output of the pump and do not T it to the carb. Turn the pump on and measure the pressure. If it were a mecanical pump you would just run the engine on the fuel that is in the float bowl. That doesn't sound right to me. You want to know dynamic pressure or pressure at flow, not static pressure. It turns out that the mechanical pump on my CJ went bad. I went to replace it and the parts store gave me the wrong part. So, I returned it and picked up an electric in its place. Long story short I decided to do the electric conversion. I am going to go through with the conversion as I've already picked up all the parts I need pump, relay, pressure switches, fuses, T fitting, wiring, mechanical block off plate... I should have just picked up another mechanical. But whats done is done.
